A little about me 

Acne-prone + Acne Scars + Oily skin — A skin recipe for disaster, right? Well…that was my reality for quite a while until I discovered a multi-use toner that completely changed my exfoliating game! And ultimately, giving me the radiant, glass skin that I’ve dreamt of.

Not gonna lie, exfoliation and toners have had a bad rep in the past few years. Accusations of “being too harsh on the skin” have become a challenge for skincare enthusiasts in changing the narratives of these two VERY beneficial steps in our skincare routine. 

Realising this was the reality didn’t sit well with me. So! Here I am to tell you my story of how an exfoliating toner has helped managed my pimple-prone, oily skin while simultaneously fading my blemishes. The Problem

Oily, combo skin — It’s me, hi! I’m the problem, it’s me! 

First of all, a little breakdown of my skin type. I suffer from the result of a classic oily, combination skin — congestion with acne breakouts, an oily t-zone, and hyperpigmentation (acne scars). You name it. It is even worse when it’s that time of the month. 

With those conditions in mind, I decided to do some research for a multi-functional product that’ll heal my skin. Landing on the RNW DER. PORE Reducing Toner as recomended by my superiors, I was eager to try. After reading the ingredients list and educating myself on its benefit, I was immediately sold! 

And voila! Here is my verdict:

In My Skin Healing Era: My Experience with 

RNW Der Pore Reducing Toner 

1. Texture & Consistency

To my surprise, the toner has a water-like consistency, which is HEAVEN for oily skin sufferers like me as it feels lightweight. Since the toner is also made for sensitive skin, the formula didn’t feel like it was stripping my skin barrier.

Instead, my skin was left with a cooling feeling that reminds me of a refreshing, cold bath. Not to mention, it is also infused with a mild floral scent which has been scientifically associated with the ability to positively impact mood.

2. Method & Frequency of Application

I applied the toner with cotton pads, as recommended, immediately after washing my face daily, 2x a day. Once in the morning, the other at night. Sometimes, I even wipe the solution on my elbows to lighten the pigmentation there as the toner’s considered a brightening product. 

Despite, utilising it relatively often for a month now and on various parts of my body, the toner solution is barely even reaching half of the bottle’s length. You have no idea how happy I am with the fact that a multi-functional product like this can last long. IT’S SUCH A GREAT DEAL!

3. Toner’s Effectiveness

Here’s my before and after using RNW’s Pore Reducing Toner. Calling it my holy grail has probably painted the image of how powerful this toner was in tackling my facial skin problems. The most prominent change that I noticed was the less frequent breakouts EVEN during my period. My previously oily t-zone was also less shiny. Yay! No more shiny forehead!

Not to mention, my blemishes were also significantly reduced as seen from the pictures above. I’ve also shared a mini review previously to shed light on how much my skin has improved within a month of usage.

Now, let’s move to the STAR of the toner — its ingredients and the magic behind what makes it work. Without them, my skin wouldn’t have shown such visible and instant improvement.

1. 80% Virginia Witch Hazel Water

Witch Hazel, the infamous ingredient that has people in a limbo, has so many good things that require highlighting. Did you know — Witch Hazel is one of the best natural, anti-inflammatory ingredients among a sea of skincare ingredients? 

This soothing ingredient when combined with a water-based solution (like this toner) calms red, irritated acne. Additionally, it also fights free radicals, which is just a scientific way of saying, “Fighting off environmental pollutants.”

Other benefits of this ingredient according to dermatologists include:

• Combats acne breakouts
• Eliminates bacteria 
• Minimises pores

2. Licorice Extract

Similarly to Witch Hazel, Licorice Extract is an anti-inflammatory, brightening ingredient that delivers the promise of easing inflammation and fading acne scars. Discolouration on the skin is caused by an enzyme called tyrosinase, and Licorice Extract has the chemical property to combat this. 

Reducing hyperpigmentation is just the tip of the iceberg for this miracle ingredient among other benefits such as being a natural sun protectant and softening skin

3. Lactic Acid

Wondering where the exfoliating part comes from? Here it is ladies and gents! Lactic acids are famously known as gentle, chemical exfoliants due to their alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) properties. AHAs remove dead skin cells and allow new, healthier skin to grow. 

Apart from that, other proven perks consist of:

• Enhancing skin’s natural moisture
• Stimulating collagen for skin firmness 

A well-known product of this chemical would be The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid, but trying chemical exfoliants can get intimidating especially for beginners. 

So, it is recommended to try a product that is infused with a mild amount of AHA first. Making this toner an even more perfect addition to our skincare routine.

Radiant, Healthy Skin for The Win - Aftermath

All in all, a month has passed since my initial discovery of the RNW DER. PORE Reducing Toner and needless to say, I have no regrets! I’m not breaking out as often as I used to, my pores are barely visible, my acne scars are non-existent and I’m not as oily as before. 

Most of my skin issues were solved with this multi-functional toner. Even my family members are noticing these improvements. I’m proud to say, for the first time in a long time, my skin is at its healthiest. 

Hopefully, my story (and little info sharing) has somewhat helped convince you to use this toner because trust me, your future acne-free, healthy, and bright skin is going to thank you if you do.
